Mission Statement
Centennial High School counselors are dedicated to providing all students with a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that encourages academic success, social emotional growth and career awareness and exploration.
Counseling Philosophy
The Centennial High School Counseling Department operates under the beliefs that:
Our school counseling program is comprehensive and aligned with the National Standards for School Counseling as outlined by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) model. We make students are our highest priority: they are all treated equally, respectfully and with dignity, regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation or educational needs. All students receive individual student planning that addresses their goals in academic, career and personal social development and are informed, empowered and encouraged to pursue their post-secondary options. We acknowledge the potential and importance of every student and accept the responsibility to challenge, direct and guide students in their pursuit of knowledge. The values of honesty, respect and responsibility are fundamental to guiding and preparing students for a lifetime of learning. School Counselors address the prevention, intervention and developmental needs of all students through collaboration with families, teachers, student support staff and the educational community. Data drives the development of our program and the individual needs of our students are considered when evaluating counseling services.
Confidentiality Statement
Your confidentiality and privacy as a student is important to us. As Counselors, we are compelled to respect your privacy and keep everything you discuss with us confidential. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule that include self-harm, harming others, situations of being physically, emotionally, or sexually abused, you know of someone else who is being physically, emotionally, or sexually abused, or we are required by the court or legal proceedings to do so. As a Mandated Reporter, it is our duty to enlist the support of other agencies to assist you, only in those instances, so that you are able to be safe, physically healthy, and emotionally healthy at all times. We work each day to handle every situation in a way that respects your confidentiality, your feelings, and your needs.
